Steve DeLay began his sports marketing career with his hometown Cleveland Indians while still in college. Upon graduation, he worked for the Indians selling tickets for the new Jacobs Field in the early 90's before moving on to the New Jersey Nets. During his three years with the Nets, he worked with Jon Spoelstra and progressed from Corporate Marketing Manager to Director of Group Sales. He left New Jersey and headed west to become Vice President of Ticket Sales for the Los Angeles Kings, where for three years he helped the organization prepare for the opening of Staples Center. After a short stint with the Tampa Bay Lightning as Vice President of Ticket Sales, DeLay joined Mandalay Baseball in 1999.
